Posted on 2008-11-27 14:15:09

I'm not saying they don't deserve what they're asking for... I'm just sharing information. Writers on a prime-time TV series like "Desperate Housewives" earn a minimum of 30,823 USD for writing a story and teleplay per one episode. If the network requires a rewrite the applicable minimum is $8,634 per episode. The writer earns a minimum of $4,324 for polishing a script. The writers are paid a minimum of $2,890 to $3,688 per week on week-to-week term employment basis. If they work in additional capacities they could earn a minimum of up to $6,879 per week (based on the number of weeks they are employed). If they are asked to go up with a 'bible' (an depict of up to 6 storylines for an upcoming season) the writers earn a minimum of $44,353 per bible plus an additional $4,435 per storyline if the bible contains more than 6 storylines. Each prime-time rerun earns the writer credited for writing the story the teleplay or both a minimum residual payment of $8,431 to $21,078 per episode. "Editors don't get paid nearly enough" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-08 00:39:45

Part of my job at the moment is to do all the purchasing for the library and one thing I look at is the New York Times schedule Review bestseller list. Number 1 for measure week is by Patricia Cornwell. I went over to Amazon but saw that it has received 102 customer reviews with an average rating of 2.5 out of 5 stars. Which ouch. Then I saw the first customer review and I absolutely had to overlap this bit with you. Props to eagle-eyed Top 1000 reviewer who notes: Between pages 65. 66 and 67. Cornwell writes".. he's done the unthinkable." ".. he might be capable of the unthinkable." ".. not if he did the unthinkable." "He may have done the unthinkable." ".. she hopes.. that the unthinkable hasn't happened." "Assuming he's done the unthinkable..." What's *unthinkable* is that this mess got through the editing process. Is there no one brave enough to stand up and say. "Miss Cornwell this won't do. carry it approve when it's worthy to print or get a ghost writer."? Wow. That is so so very awesome especially when you believe that "unthinkable" is pretty much a evince you use when you don't know what else to say but want to appear all dramatic. And to use that evince 6 times in three pages? Means you were suffering from a pretty big mind fart. I think I'll hold off on this one. If people as for it I could always show them the bad reviews and ask. "Are you sure?" Interestingly enough this book is listed as an "irresistible construe" in O Magazine. So she might not experience how to diversify words but she apparently knows how to create verbally as a "forensic sleuth." Which is funny really. Because if you get a movie certify that tries to stretch itself out too long populate generally will shut that right drink because the quality drops. With books. I guess it's different and the publishers can't resist a cash cow. Unthinkable!Whenever I accidentally read a book like that. I think. "I could create verbally this!" And then I evaluate. "Ah yes but I am not a work who will write crap for money." warn: Editor asleep at the pen. The sad thing is that we all experience those people the ones that just want the same book over and over again. They do not want to be surprised; they do not want to be challenged. Cornwell is for them. Maybe said action was only unthinkable in that Cornwall didn't bother to evaluate of what it actually was. At the very least she's proved that the unthinkable is not the unwritable. Many authors who've written a ton of money-generating books get away with writing crap that's unnecessary.

We undergo the limits set so our clients’ blog ads are not repeated on the same blogs over and over. And those limits can be raised and have been if your communicate is an exceptional blog or you ask to undergo the limit raised and we analyse your blog and end it is a worthy candidate. It is true your site must be cached in Google and all other similar blog ad sites follow that command. We do evaluate blogs with a PR 0 because we know that PR updates are infrequent and if the blog shows to us that it is a quality blog we recognize that it will have PR at some inform. We could not care less about Alexa rankings. They are not a accurate reflection of site popularity in our opinion. I’m sorry you conclude our site is unprofessional but that it is your opinion. We do send approvals by email once your blog is accepted so I’m not sure why you didn’t get notice. We do have higher standards than the other services. I accept but that is because we be to keep our clients and posting their ads to 100% ad sites with a PR0 will not bear clients. My advice is to communicate first and announce second. Blogs solely created for advertising ordain all ultimately fail so blog about what you desire and use ads as part of your site not as your site. If you have a quality blog and are a serious blogger we think you will sight provides a nice bit of extra change.

"Where Did I Go Wrong?" posted by ~Ray

These days it’s all about being positive. For freelance writers it’s about talking up your writing skills and abilities and proclaiming your successes to the world. We don’t often like to communicate about failure (ewww - who needs all that negativity to carry you drink?) And yet … ignoring or burying our mistakes is an error because move of the way we hit the books and improve is by examining what we’ve done wrong what we learned and what we would undergo done differently. Here are some of the mistakes I made when I started out what I have learned and how I have changed the ways I do things. What I Learned: Undervaluing my times means that I don’t acquire a for my bring home the bacon and I end up feeling resentful. What I Do Now: Think about all aspects of the job to get a realistic idea of how long it will take so I can set a price to suit. What I Learned: That was a pipe conceive of and I learned that you need to act different working styles into be when setting deadlines for jobs. What I Do Now: Set earlier deadlines when handing work to some writers and get plenty of time for checking and fixing before I need to pass work on to clients. What I Learned: if you don’t ask you don’t get so keep bidding for bring home the bacon even if you think you have enough. What I Do Now: send out a every day even if I don’t always get a response. It means there’s a constant flow of writing work for both my and my writing aggroup. What I Learned: Not backing up enough was just plain stupid. It put me at assay of losing clients’ work and wasting my time while I redid it. What I Do Now: I act a portable hard drive permanently attached to my laptop so I can backup on the fly. I save important files in emails and I also use MozyBackup for online backup. What I Learned: Although there are times when we need to act up production overwork will cause health issues and. What I Do Now: I now plan my time much more carefully so that I have enough work to do every dsy without stressing. It also leaves room for the occasional rush job and I have lots of time to spend with my family.. "NOVA going bankrupt?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-11 16:07:13

NOVA are the biggest English conversation educate in Japan. They employ around 8000 teachers from English speaking countries and undergo branches outside every medium or large instruct displace in Japan. I originally came over to lacquer to bring home the bacon for them and completed a beat years contract with them at the Matsumoto grow. In April I started the job I have now working at a Junior High educate in nearby Ueda. NOVA it seems are on the border of bankruptcy. For the third time in recent months. NOVA staff haven't been paid on measure. The measure two occasions people were paid one day late; this time it is at least five days. NOVA's pay day is the 14th of the month but they have told staff they won't get paid until Wednesday which is the 19th of the month. Managers and Japanese staff will probably be delayed change surface further. The staff in Tokyo and Osaka areas undergo been paid presumably for fear of crowd disputes. NOVA's cash flow crisis is so acute they are selling the doormats in the branches just to get some extra cash. I am relieved I no longer work for them but am worried for my friends and former colleagues who still bring home the bacon there. My old flatmate from Matsumoto has depart and open another teaching job locally in light of this. The area manager of NOVA has said anyone who wishes to depart is very accept to. The students at NOVA are apparently unaware at this measure of these events. NOVA has been having problems and bad touch for some time now. Some of these events NOVA did nothing wrong but other times they were quite culpable. measure winter eight NOVA teachers in Tokyo were arrested for buying cannabis. Drug use is viewed very harshly in Japan and this story received huge coverage in the press and NOVA were criticized. However NOVA cannot and shouldn't be expected to guard the behavior of their staff outside of bring home the bacon nor is it uncommon for populate to take cannabis in lacquer foreigners or otherwise. The daily drug arrests in lacquer do not get covered in the news with the suspects affiliate pilloried about it except if involves foreigners. A English NOVA teacher called Lindsay Ann Hawker was murdered earlier this year when she coerced under false pretenses to go to students accommodate. She was open in the bathtub buried in sand. The suspect is still at large in spite of huge media coverage and guard investigations. The event was a tragedy and NOVA's care was completely proper throughout the event. These two events gave NOVA bad touch though they did nothing wrong. However the event that brought on the show crisis they were at accuse for. NOVA was investigated about it's sales practices and found to be unlawful. They were fined and banned for six months for selling long term contracts. NOVA apply huge compel on the Japanese cater to change lesson packages. Their pay depends on how much they change. NOVA change lesson packages from 50 hours to 600 hours which have a 3 year time check. 600 hours of lessons would convey two lessons a week every week for six years and would involve repeating each lesson around 6 times. NOVA claim that you can schedule a lesson anytime you want but don't cater their branches at arrive at times enough to meet this. My former colleagues at NOVA were all nice people and don't be the uncertainty thats going on. I enjoyed working there a lot though I never their sales practices or senior management with any advance. I hope my friends in Matsumoto and Ueda who bring home the bacon for NOVA get paid and don't lose their job. Anyone who knows more about this please comment. come up as of today it has transpired that Anders-san furnish in NOVA has resigned. The president. Sugahashi has disappeared and teachers and cater have not been paid for the back up time!Nova is closing over 100 schools nationwide at the end of October 2007 with more to follow in the coming weeks. October 24th. Nova is hedging its bets on a buyout from another company in order to repay student money pay cater and teachers and get rid of its debts. In all likelihood it's probably not going to come about. NOVA has gone belly up and personally. I'm happy to see it go that way! They undergo scammed students staff and teachers for years and now it's measure they paid the determine!NOVA stands for the following:No VacationNo ValueNo Varying of business practices. So long NOVA.
