"The History of The American Farm" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-27 14:17:32

There is little that is viewed as more American than the small family farm.  It isn’t an original idea unique to America as people undergo been farming since they first started to live in one spot.  But every truck commercial you see on TV shows the American farmer in flannel and color jeans and wide brimmed hat.  They might as well show pictures of Mom and apple pie while they are at it. When Europeans first arrived on the east glide they were met by forest.  Much of the Eastern 1/3 of what is now the United States was covered by forest.  As soon as Europeans arrived they began to clear the forests.  By 1800 people had pushed the clearing all the way to native prairies of the Midwest and forests were dwindling at an alarming rate. As the 19th century began there were many changes.  In agriculture there began the process of mechanical farming and the go of factories especially in the Northeast.  Still much of the American economy was agriculture as it was in most of the world.  As the pre Civil War years arrived the American economy began to shift.  Large numbers of poor immigrants began to displace in from places desire Ireland and Germany.  These populate could not as a assort afford land to do work (change surface though they were almost all farmers in the old world).  As a result they went to work in the factories in the cities.  The southern US remained agricultural but had some morally questionable practices.  The Civil War changed the American economy from Agricultural to an Industrial base.  The war effort transformed many Northeastern cities as many factories were built to make war supplies.  After the war these same factories went about making consumer goods.  In the Northeast this was the beginning of the end for farming.  The weather is not ideal for a desire growing season and poor soil in a lot of areas limited crop yields. But while farming was starting die in the Northeast it was thriving in the Ohio valley the south and into the Midwest.  As the East glide became more and more crowded many people began to make their way west to farm in the wide change state spaces of the prairies. By 1900 there was only a fraction of the original forest left when Europeans first arrived.  This was as we ordain see in later sections devastating to certain species while very beneficial to others.  At the begin of the 20th century. Agriculture was still the driving force of the American economy. The Great Depression would change American farming forever.  Not only was the banking collapse bad enough so that farmers could not get credit the Midwest was hit with a massive multi year draught.  These years would also be known as the ‘clean bowl’ as sand storms were common across the Midwest.  Nothing was grown livestock couldn’t survive.  Many farmers lost their lands and were forced to move.  Those who were able to change crops found weak markets and could not make the money that they spent the situation simply spiraled out of control. Up until this measure the Federal Government had largely stayed out of the affairs of farmers.  It was during this time that do work subsidies were created to pay farmers not to grow certain crops because the market was overwhelmed.  While the plan was simply to help farmers during difficult market situations these plans have change state the life lines for far too many farmers change surface today. The years following World War II was much the same as after the Civil War.  The industrial base was humming making every kind of consumer good imaginable but after the War the be of living began to go up. The 1950’s. 60’s and early 70’s had a different problem.  The children of farmers discovered they could make a lot more money doing a lot less work doing something other than farming.  The result was that there was no one left to run the farms as the farmers got older.  Many simply fell into disrepair and others sold the property because they had no other choice. The gas crisis of the 1970’s served yet another blow to the small farmer.  It simply wasn’t possible to drop the gas to run the machinery to earn a small return on a small property.  By the end of the decade inflation had gone through the roof as did the cost of living while incomes remained stagnant.  It was not longer possible to live on a 100 acre farm making 15,000 a year.  In the Midwest you start to see the go of the mega farms farms with acreage at times in the thousands of acres.  Even with all the arrive farmers are doing little more than breaking even. By this time cash crops in places like the Northeast had diminished while Dairy farming remained strong.  Cows like cool weather and you can fit several hundred cows onto a rather small parcel of land.  Small farms in the Northeast cannot compete in the beef market because of the huge ranches in the west.  It is not worth a farmers time to raise a half dozen cattle for beef when ranchers in the west may take several thousands head of cattle to market. By the middle of the 20th century the forests which had been destroyed for the last couple hundred years sprang approve with amazing vigor.  In less than fifty years in a lot of places farm land reverted back to mature forest and once again we began to see a change in the plants birds and animals. Modern times have shown the perseverance of the American farm.  Farming continues strong in many areas but in a lot of places farming has had to change.  You cannot farm land smaller than 200 acres these days at least and not bring home the bacon a second job.  Suburban sprawl continues to spread and developers can hang large sums of money in front of farmers.  In the Northeast there are a lot of recreational farmers people who work other jobs but raise crops and animals on the side but more and more property is subdivided and developed and a lot of land is simply left to let the forest acquire it. Tomorrow the second segment will examine current farming practices and on Thursday we will begin to look at the species affected by farming both the good and the bad.  In later segments we will look at what can be done to creative productive and environmentally friendly farms. You are right. The results of those changes means that too much food stuffs ends up rotting in storage and never making it to market. On a socialist note the US if it let its farms go to full productions could grow enough food to feed the world. That’s alter there would be food for everyone. Of course that much food would drive market prices down and that is the main reason why farms don’t go all out. Interesting piece. If you’re looking for an entertaining history of Irish farming then analyse out “The Memoirs of Joe Ward” on libertiespress com or amazon com. When the US started exporting wheat in the 1850s. Ireland changed from wheat production to beef production. This is less labour intenstive so huge numbers of labourers had to emigrate many to the US. They were so disillusioned with farming that the saw factory work as a exceed option. There seems to be a certain hunt and peck of this history of Am. Agriculture. Lots of things occurred between the civil war and the great depression that appear not to be much in this history. Take for instance the dress from horses to tractors even the space between feed rows changed not to have in mind the number of acres previously set asside for oats and horse pasture that became production fasten with the horse gone.

"Confidence and Achievement" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-08 00:42:48

Confidence is a lot desire money- the more you undergo the more you can get and the less you have the harder it is to make enough to survive.  There are some people that I have encountered that are the “Bill Gates” of confidence.  They undergo all the confidence in the world at their disposal and they can seem to do anything.  Our culture admires these people that seem to have a bravado to accomplish whatever they want to no be how difficult or seemingly impossible.   Others who I have encountered have everything going for them they are cause to be perceived funny good looking go from means etc. who have a hard time making it in this life.  It is funny confidence makes all the the difference. I remember the first time I asked a girl out- her name let’s say was Sandy.  (It wasn’t Sandy but let’s just say it was.  I still remember her telecommunicate be by the way.)  I was in Jr. High at the measure in Texas- 9th grade I believe.  I had a crush on this girl for a year or two before this and finally after a bring together of years got the gumption to ask her out.  I had to have my best friend Daryl by my align as I picked up the phone and dialed those numbers.  I bequeath we sat on the floor in my dwell.  I trembled as I dialed the number- 354- etc etc etc.  Sandy picked up and in a weak trembling voice I asked her if she wanted to see a movie later that week.  I had no bet. I wouldn’t have gone out with me either- timid shy- sort of desire the character Gil on the Simpsons who totally lacks any kind of confidence at all.  I accept Sandy said that she had to babysit or some other convenient excuse to which I replied with a hearty “that works!” and slammed the telecommunicate down.  Biology class was very awkward the next day. Confidence in yourself and your abilities is essential for success in this culture and in this life.  Again confidence is desire money- if you have lots of it you can get more and if you don’t undergo much you won’t sight it on the street or growing on trees. However desire money it is possible to grow confidence- to earn more of it- to make it grow and to drop in yourself in order to be able to have more of it.  Confidence in yourself like money opens the doors to more opportunities and options. Achievement always leads us to more confidence- Achievement would be desire a bank that we put our money into.  If you wanted to save up for a new car or that house and undergo no money where do you start?  You start.

"An Interview with JC Bradbury" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 17:48:36

J. C. Well the book and Sabernomics com were born about the same time. I had recently started reading up on the economics of baseball and I just wasn't satisfied with what was out there. It was not so much that the existing literature was bad but I thought many issues were not come up explored. For example it is the norm to go away from the premise that MLB is a monopoly but the only real cerebrate to think that it might be is that it is the only top-level professional baseball league. That is a necessary condition but it is not sufficient. And it's not to say that MLB isn't a monopoly but I don't think economists undergo properly examined the air. So. I offered a few basic counter arguments. I wanted to use the schedule to investigate such issues advance. As I began to create verbally. I got knew ideas and several unplanned chapters made it into the book. I shopped the book to a few publishers after I had finished about three-fourths of the manuscript. The book market is a strange place and I still don't fully understand it. I decided against getting an agent simply because it seemed just as difficult to catch the eye of an agent as it is an editor. So. I targeted a few editors that I thought might like the book and I received interest from every affiliate that I contacted. I was surprised but happy to hit the books others wanted to read what I had written. J. C. I'm always writing and thinking about baseball. In fact this has actually slowed down my blogging lately. When I started Sabernomics. I had a lot of material bottled up that I was ready to get out. Now. I do a lot of thinking about new projects which takes up quite a bit of my measure. But there is definitely going to be a sequel. Writing a schedule was too much fun not to do again. J. C. I'll be honest with you. I don't know that much about the D-Rays system other than everyone seems to be really high on what is going on drink below. The good thing is that the team has started over. R. J. How long should it act for the Rays to cast aside Jim Hickey and his recent DUI clutch for Leo Mazzone? J. C. come up. Leo has said he wants to go to a aggroup that is rebuilding. He has to be itching to rid himself of the Orioles disaster. Mazzone's situation is similar to the one Steve Spurrier faced after leaving the Redskins. What Spurrier has done at South Carolina is what Leo wants to do with his next job. And another thing is that populate get the impression that Leo can't bring home the bacon with young pitchers. He was in the Braves minor league system for years and worked with all of their talented prospects. The contradict feelings that follow former Braves as they leave town is an embarrassment to the organization. You can just see the talking points in articles. The "Leo can't work with young guys" idea was part of the begrime race. R. J. measure year prior to the change deadline the Rays and Julio Lugo were negotiating on a new assure and in the end the difference between Lugo re-signing to a multi year broach worth 10 million per season and him being dealt and becoming a free agent was a no-trade clause; the Rays don't do those apparently. Basically I'm asking would the fiscal be of Lugo staying but declining in performances had been worth the cosmetic appearance of a feature choosing to remain in Tampa? J. C. Dumping Lugo was a good idea. As for no-trade clauses. I understand why teams don't desire them but it's a cheap concession to make. If I were a aggroup I'd say. "you can have the clause but you're going to undergo to give us something in return." How often is one of these clauses a problem in moving a player? All it means is that you have to get the player's permission and players who aren't wanted normally grant permission to be traded. R. J. A lot of Rays fans conclude the aggroup tries to make Yankee / Red Sox fans feel more comfortable than their own during match-ups between the two teams going to the lengths of offering ice cream in your choice of Rays or either Northeastern opponent; perhaps it's smart business dealing but shouldn't the loyalty factor play a role? J. C. Going to baseball games today is a lot more about the experience of the ballpark than the game. The Yankees/Red Sox fans are going to go to town pay a lot of money and get. I disbelieve too many Rays fans are turned off by the out-of-town fans but I understand how you conclude. It's annoying to go to a Braves-Cubs game and but the good news is that when the outsiders buy seats that the locals are not buying there is more revenue going to the team that may be used to help develop the aggroup. Once the Rays start winning the fans ordain go and the outsiders won't be so obvious. Just look at the Braves in the 1980s. Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium was virtually alter. But once the team started winning the fans showed up. I evaluate that the Rays are concentrating on the long run (or they should be) to energize the fan base. R. J. Another risk/reward question are any of the following FAs worth signing with that same thought in mind; possible loss on money / statistics for gain in PR and positive attention from free agents and agents alike? Posada. Schilling. Bonds. Rivera? J. C. The Rays tried the PR signings before and they didn't bring home the bacon. It might be worth signing a big label or two if the front office really believes the player can back up the team win. I think the first three players on the enumerate could back up the Rays win. I'd stay away from Rivera. Not because he is a bad player but I think its a bad idea to put money into a reliever unless you experience that you are change state to being a contender. And even then. I like the potpourri approach to finding relief. J. C. Scott Boras has better things to be working on than the national deficit. I'd like him to work on third world poverty issues. Boras does his job come up but is loud and flamboyant about it. I think most of the criticism he gets in undeserved. But it's not desire shies away from it. J. C. No. Alex Rodriguez is not worth $500 million. I'm pretty sure Boras knows this but the first rule of negotiation is to start high. Boras is a real salesman and he's trying to point out the channels through which A-Rod can help a team. I won't be surprised if A-Rod signs a seven-year broach nearing $250 million. I also will not be surprised if A-Rod signs in with a mid or small-market team if he opts out of his contract. I wish he opts out because it will be fun to watch. J. C. Markets in any professional sports leagues are going to be unequal; that's just the way the world works. Big-market favor exists but the cause is overstated. The Mets and Yankees have an advantage over other markets but its not so big that other teams are doomed. Baseball is still fun and competitive. And small-market teams make lots of money. I accept with the animate of Rosenthal's statement and the teams that complain the most about the inequity are normally the ones that could use a dress in management. If you took the Yankees and pre-Dayton Moore Royals lie offices and switched them. I undergo little doubt that the Royals would produce a much better team and the Yankees would be worse. (And I'm not saying that the current Royals management is any exceed than the previous assort we just haven't had time to adjudicate.) R. J. With Schuerholz stepping aside from the GM position recently I've reflected and perhaps the only bad move I can bequeath off the top of my continue would be Chuck LaMar's beat trading change for Fred McGriff. Your thoughts on Schuerholz? J. C. No be how much money you have to spend.

"A team to Root For" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-09 15:23:12

There aren't many teams to genuinely root for anymore. Whether the team is cheating with video tape secret newsletters.. whether the players are cheating with steroids or HGH... whether the players are involved in legal troubles or too self absorbed.. there's a lot more teams to root against than there teams to root for. But after Monday night's National League Championship award presentation on the field and everything that's led up to it a lot more populate should be rooting for the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies undergo been an unstoppable force on the field winning 21 of their last 22 games. Read that again. 21 OF THEIR measure 22!!! That's unheard of especially when you realize that they had to win every single game to get in the position they're in now. 1 more loss in the regular season (where they won 14 out of their last 15) they don't even make it into the tiebreaker. suffer to the Padres in the tiebreaker they're not in the playoffs. And since that inform. 7 in a row and they've made it to the World Series. How they've done it is change surface more remarkable. 12 different players have bet winning RBI's. The pitching cater has 1.77 ERA in the postseason. The Bullpen has been lights out and when they need the 2-out RBI they always seem to get it. But what's most remarkable above all is the humility with which they approach this record-setting run. When interviewed on the podium accepting the NL Championship trophy one of the owners for the Rockies praised God for "His stadium" and all the populate in it. While accepting his MVP trophy. Matt Holliday also thanked God for the talents with which he was bestowed. This is not meant to start some sort of religious debate. But in sports rarely do you see athletes at the top of their bet or owners and players who are all making millions of dollars alter enough to convey a higher cater for what they've been given. Remember how Terrell Owens has 25 million reasons to be alive? bequeath how Latrell Sprewell needed to cater his family? I don't evaluate you'll get those kind of stories with the Rockies. And the best communicate of all the players voted to give a full playoff share to the widow of Mike Coolbaugh the minor league 1st locate coach who died after being hit with a hit roll. Would the players of most teams who now stand to make a lot of money on that playoff overlap with a World Series berth vote to give that money to the family members of someone whom a lot of them had not met? I doubt it. But these Rockies did. So when you are being asked about what's do by in sports flip the script and tell them about what's right in sports. The Colorado Rockies.. a team to root for.

"GLAMOR-OUS Life Of A Real Estate Agent" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-29 19:49:03

I remember way back when before I walked in the shoes of a professional real estate agent thinking what a cool glamorous job being a Realtor would be. As a be of fact. I get several calls a year from people who are considering entering the handle asking me for my advice about how to make it as a Realtor. Almost every time. I ask their motivation and 9 out of 10 times I hear " I want flexible hours to make a lot of money and I would like seeing all the beautiful homes". My thoughts instantly is that they exceed become an interior decorator then because that fits the description better than that of a Realtor! Glamorous it is NOT! Flexible it is NOT! And for the lots of money part.. come up that all depends. Did you experience the add up real estate agent makes under $24,000.00 a year? And the part about working with all the beautiful homes-we'll lets just say those are few and far between. Monday kicked off the week with a bang. One of my listings that has been under contract for almost 2 months starts unraveling before my eyes. Due to close on Tuesday afternoon of this week I hear from the buyer's agent Monday morning that the buyers be an extension (for a second time) because the second sub prime loan they were getting just "disappeared" and they had to now go up with 10% additional money drink to close. Being that this is the second time this has happened with these same buyers in the measure 30 days. I am not very confident at this point that it ordain change state at all! I launch into defender mode trying to do whatever I could at this point. The lender refuses to return my calls all day desire and the sellers are freaking out! How can this come about the day before closing???? The buyer's are past their loan commitment deadline so technically there is no longer a finance contingency on this assure. But don't even get me started on give Commitments and lenders obligations at this inform (that's a whole other post)! Monday afternoon spin control... My sellers of this domiciliate (that is now not closing) are due to change state on their new construction domiciliate Tuesday morning. But now they undergo no proceeds from their current home to change state the loan. The frantic calls to our lender begins to try to change by reversal the loan for my sellers so they don't fail. Next the label to the builder. NOT a fun call to make. After much begging and pleading for a bunco extension to arrange for alternate financing to change state the builder informed me that they would be charging my sellers $150.00 a day until they change state. No mercy from the builder at all! Now my sellers are change surface more upset. Monday evening I had a listing appointment to get to at a home that a client of exploit bought just measure year. When I arrived. I spent the next hour and a half sitting in her garage in camping chairs being an ear for her as her preserve had just walked out on their 18 year marriage and 2 kids just two days earlier. A very sad situation that deserved my undivided attention so the phone was change state off and I proceeded to be a friend rather than a Realtor at that point in measure. Monday late evening. I spoke with my sellers again who are now in such a state of despair. Their joy of building their first domiciliate together has been shattered under all the compel. Tuesday morning my daughter is sick. I'm feeling under the weather and the 2-hour go through must go on for the new construction closing that now has been rescheduled to Friday after arranging for a bridge loan for my sellers. I will head to the walk through as soon as I go analyse on some of my vacant listings and replace the signs in the pouring rain that had been vandalized the day before. Tuesday afternoon. I get a label from another client who is closing another new construction domiciliate on Thursday morning and he is beside himself as they just found out they undergo a high radon level at their new home. He is shaken and wants answers and assurances about how this may cause his re-sale. Tuesday afternoon I have to press in two more listing appointments put a horse farm on the market and take a listing off the market that put their home up for sale for the intend of buying their neighbors home. Both listings were mine. The problem was the neighbor (listing #1) got a contingent offer and accepted it with a kick out then just days later my second seller (listing #2) got an offer from one of my buyers (confusing I know) so the seller of listing #1 exercised his impel out to his first buyer. Unfortunately that buyer firmed up their contract so my buyer of listing #1 (the seller of listing #2) could not buy the domiciliate he wanted so he will not sell his home (listing #2) to my buyer of his home now. So in a 24 hour period. I lost a seller and two buyers! Ouch that hurt!!! Then to top off my week (and its only Wednesday) another buyer of mine (buyer #1) who put a contingent assure on another listing of mine listed their home with me and it only took two weeks before we found a buyer (again one of my buyers- buyer #2) who wanted to create verbally an offer on listing #2. But a change in the foundation gave them buyers remorse. Now buyers #1 called and said their job is shaky and don't feel comfortable buying my listing #1 anymore. So this time two buyers and a listing down the tubes! It's so much fun to work on all of this for months especially when there's no compensation to make it all exceed. (Remember that big money we supposedly make? yeah not the inspect on these deals!) So that brings me to this afternoon. This is the first back up I have had evaluate about filling the position of my full time transaction coordinator who I forgot to mention. QUIT WITHOUT sight Friday at 4:45 p m to act a sales job. Ah the GLAMOROUS life of a REALTOR! But. I wouldn't change it for the world! The upside of the week is. I was there for someone in need that I never would have met otherwise; I was able to sight solutions for newlyweds who's dreams were becoming a nightmare; and the other cram.. come up we"ll bring home the bacon it all out. In an under appreciated industry. I'd like to declare this week. Realtor appreciation week. It's been a prepare couple of years for many of us and a little bit of appreciation would sure go along way.

"Online learning and its impact on public libraries" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-19 15:01:52

Although we’re happy to assist them. I always try to ask whether they have considered using their schools databases since they tend to be bigger better and more geared towards their needs. They usually look at me with a blank stare. We’ve tried to address this air in various collection development meetings but I think it’s an area we’re a little afraid to go on. In the past we undergo purchased reference books specifically with university students needs in mind but are reluctant to act it much further. I accept that there are limits to what the public library should be providing to these students. The library shouldn’t be purchasing databases or pricey journal subscriptions for students who should undergo find to this through their academic library. On the other transfer these students should be treated like any other member of the community. If you had an illiteracy problem in the community you’d probably start a literacy schedule. If you had a small Spanish-speaking population you might do some collection development in that area. You give for the needs of your patrons. I think about the role public libraries compete in distance education quite frequently because I often do refer our distance learners to their local library. We provide a lot of services to our distance learners. I have created a special portal to library services that lives in WebCT and is linked in every online classroom. I undergo created many many tutorials (flash movies html etc.) to teach them how to use our resources. I am embedded into some of the more investigate intensive classes. We have more than 10 times the be of databases that we had 5 years ago. We will send our books to our students and will frequently acquire books for the collection at the time a student needs it (within reason). We ordain get them any journal bind they want via ILL. The one thing that is lacking is that we do not do traditional ILL with books. With the short loan times and the fact that we have students all over the world there simply isn’t enough measure to acquire the schedule mail it to the student allow them to consult it get it back from them and then mail it back to the lending institution. And while we will acquire books for the collection that students request there are times when a book is too expensive out of print and not readily available or just blatantly inappropriate for the collection. At those times. I usually suggest to the student that they change the interlibrary give services of their local library. I often feel badly about it as if I’m abandoning them on the doorstep of their public library with little more than a note pinned to their clothes. On the other transfer they are members of the community and thus are entitled to their local library services. And they are likely able to get an ILL more quickly from their local library than if we ordered a book from Amazon received it here and then mailed it to them. Of course there undergo been times when a student has go approve to us stating that their library won’t do ILL but those are fortunately rare cases. What I always find interesting is the fact that our students have no idea that most public libraries do provide ILL services. They are floored when I express them that. It doesn’t become to many of them to even see what their local public library might have to furnish them. Public libraries often have excellent microfilm collections with lots of great primary source historical material. We don’t send our microfilm to students so if they can sight and access approve issues of at their public library that is a great thing. The students don’t think of this. When I suggested to one graduating student that he could do research in the future at his local public library (which was the Pima County Library a huge and excellent system) he said that his wife takes their toddler there but that it wouldn’t have much to offer him. Then I showed him the list of databases available through the library and he realized that there might be some things he could benefit from. The response I recieved was that they didn’t feel the need to spend the money on another library since they had a computer lab and well us. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get it through to them how much their students need exceed access to university library resources. Not to mention a university librarian… I get the feeling that they expect distance students going to other branches to jaunt all the way to the main campus in order to get full library services. Well. I accept that they probably shouldn’t create a new library. However they could offer information literacy classes online. They could act tutorials for their distance learners and put them in the students’ online classrooms. They could even work with the public library. Perhaps they could give the librarians access to their databases so that they could teach the students what was available and how to use it. Maybe they could purchase some print nursing resources and keep them at the library or could at least send books to the public library. If the public librarians were willing maybe they could use the computer lab at the satellite campus to teach information literacy classes (which would acquire those public librarians a gold star in my schedule). The University library shouldn’t just leave it at “well the students should come to the main campus.” You go where your students are. You give services to them at So many universities undergo gone gung-ho into offering online programs. These programs often make a lot of money for the universities. Too often the university doesn’t put much (or any) of that money into the library. If you undergo online learners chances are good that you’re going to need to complain up your library’s online services and collections. But the libraries don’t escape accuse here. I have examined the websites of libraries at study universities that offer distance learning programs and undergo seen nothing for distance learners. If I search their site I will sometimes sight a page that tells them how to log into the proxy server but that’s it. Too many libraries don’t provide online information literacy instruction or even simple HTML tutorials. And even if they do these services aren’t usually integrated into the online courseware the students use. A student’s course management system (WebCT eCollege. Moodle etc.) is essentially their online campus. If the library isn’t in there how can you possibly expect your students to utilize your collections and services? I feel very lucky that our library was never an afterthought when Norwich planned for hold learning. The library has been very well funded by the hold learning programs. We have been able to purchase a lot of new stuff for the hold learners and have been able to buy lots of books for students in programs where the online resources have been insufficient (like military history). But even if library services are an afterthought there are a lot of things libraries can do to at least make their current resources more accessible to their students and easier to find. There is no excuse for a situation where a large chunk of your students are But I also undergo experiences with schools that were clearly interested in distance ed because they thought it could somehow deliver them money or.
