A little backgroundWe have an NT domain here. I undergo been hired on to get Active Directory up and going... come up of cover needed to act a new domain (ok not of course. but I did). In order to get my trust between the AD Domain and the NT Domain. I have WINS set up on the AD Domain Controller and undergo a push/pull going on with the NT WINS. Also had to create a LMHOSTS file. Now it seems that new computers that be to be set up in to the NT Domain cannot join the domain unless NetBUI is installed. From what I understand this was never really the case prior. I'm more worried about the OLD domain and why all of the sudden if we try to put a workstation into the OLD domain it needs NETBIOS installed on it in order to sight the OLD NT Domain. So the old domain does not function like it did before you started making changes? I would create a new govern in your current DNS server for the old domain (granted that the FQDN of both domains is diffrent) and add the addresses of the NT PDC so when looking up the domain host it can find it. Unless of course you want to install netbios also netbios over tcp should take care of it too. DHCP is supposed to pass out the WINS boxes IP addies in the request of internal external internal (Not even gonna ask why they do cram this way...(I'd just get more confused with their current network lol)). Anyway for some cerebrate DHCP decided to change the request and started passing out the external IP as the first one. Got that straightened out and all is working the way they're used to.
